Are you just getting juicy?
If you were a fruit, which one would you be? A standard variety like an apple, pear or orange, or something exotic like a kiwi or persimmon? Which describe you:
• On a branch or vine? In an orchard, private garden, meadow, jungle?...

NEW SPIRIT JOURNAL is a print and online publication whose mission is to help you create abundance in your relationships, finances, health, career, and spiritual life.

Why “New?” Because not only is each day new for us, but every second of every day is brand new. If you don’t like the way life is going for you, you have a brand new second coming up just around the corner. Why not take advantage of the new and put yourself back on a more positive track?

Why “Spirit?” Because each of us is spirit. Without our spirit we wither and die on the barren vines of life. Spirit is what drives us to look more deeply into life. Spirit is what makes us feel compassion for those less fortunate than we. Spirit is what makes us dance down the street and have stars in our eyes when we are in love.

Why “Journal?” A journal is a place to record special thoughts and feelings, the ones that are important to us, the ones we don’t want to forget or lose. We return to our journals when we need to get grounded or when we need to remember who we are and where we have come from. New Spirit Journal is a community publication. The people who write and advertise here are regular people just like you. They live, love, laugh, cry, and learn every day out in the real world, the “mainstream” world. Some of them are waiters, secretaries, clerks, engineers, repair personnel, postal workers, housekeepers, managers, doctors, healers, psychics… well, you get the picture.

The common factor is our writers and advertisers have something to share with the rest of the community. Maybe it is an idea, perhaps it is a technique, or it could be a product. Whatever it is, they want to share something they believe will make your life better in some way, something that might challenge how you think and behave today, something that might make you question something you currently believe or do.

New Spirit Journal is open to people of all ages, races, belief systems, gender, affectional orientations. In other words, this publication is just like the real world: fully diverse and interesting.

Our readers are a diverse group: some are vegetarian, others are not; some get their astrological chart read every year while others think that to be a waste of money; some have regular bodywork sessions, use herbs, and work with a naturopath and others don’t. Some are thin and others aren’t.

What the readers have in common is an interest in life and in the deeper meanings life can offer. They hope to help create a happier, healthier world where people get along with each other but don’t claim to have all the answers as to how we might get there. They know they aren’t perfected beings and don’t expect the rest of us to be either. Who knows what “perfect” is anyway?

The links on this page will tell you about how to write for the publication should you wish, how much it costs to advertise, a bit about the people behind New Spirit Journal, and how to get in touch with us.

You'll find New Spirit Journal at bookstores, cafes, churches, and meeting places the first week of each month. Welcome to a new chapter in your life!
Animal Consciousness: How Does It Compare to Ours?
What if animals are actually more conscious than we are? This is actually the case, according to Gary Douglas, facilitator of communication with horses, animals, the earth, and people.

Everyday Spirituality:
In Pursuit of Hope

My friend Julie and I sat on her front porch catching the last splashes of sunlight before the golden orb slipped behind her neighbor’s rooftops. As we chatted about spirituality and her divinity classes at a local university, Julie produced a notebook and a pen. “Tomorrow I’m facilitating a class discussion about hope,” she said.

A New Perspective on Weddings
As the wedding season arrives, you may find that you have a number of opportunities to attend ceremonies in the next few months. A wedding invitation is a great blessing. It announces to you that you are a significant part of the web of family and friends surrounding the happy couple, supporting them and creating a larger context for their relationship. Page 7

Dear Louise - Ask Louise Hay
Dear Louise, I read in one of your books that our guides and angels can help us. My concern at the moment is the clutter in my home, particularly my closets. I cannot get everything in order! How do I ask my the guides or angels for help? Thank you!

Increasing Our Light Energy
Have you heard? We’re in a recession. A topic for debate, I’m sure, at water coolers and coffee shops everywhere. Blame it on this political party or that one. Look at the historical context of politics, war and economics. But in the end, the only place to look for the cause of the recession is in the mirror. Our economic situation is a result of the way our society uses its resources. Consider our history with credit. The credit card — great, great grandchild of the honor system — created in 1958 by Bank of America, has become a spoiled brat. Page 1
Living The Good Life: Here's a question to ask yourself
People often ask me how I decide the topics of my monthly column. With this column being the 37th column I have written in the past few years, one would think I would run out of material to write about. Not so. What I do each month... Page 3

Living In The Now
In my shamanic work, whenever I engage those spirits who aid me, I create a sacred space in order to properly honor and respect their involvement. Sacred space is a frame of mind that allows us to be connected with our spirit allies in order to receive what they have for us. Page 2
Wedding
Sometimes the day-to-day process of the human dilemma can be frustrating, whether through vicarious stress or the makings of our own minds. It’s often easy to forget that we are willful choosers of conscious awareness. And then someone like Rosemary Broccoli comes along, reminding us to “Look within and trust the vision that appears for your life.”
Professionally trained as a healer and a teacher with masters degrees in psychology and education, Rosemary Broccoli has followed her dream.... Page 1

The transcendent or outer planets -- Uranus, Neptune and Pluto -- offer us a key to how we can reach our highest potential and go beyond the ordinary. Each has a positive and negative use.

Our Animal Friends: Cat Runs
Over the past couple of months I have been explaining how I built outdoor cat runs, attached to the house, so my cats could go outside whenever they pleased and be safe. I have done two cat runs so far. The first one was the largest one, at least 10’ by 10’, up at my farm. Page 8
