Rev Up Your Errands
by Cheryl Petersen
Most of us have errands to run. Here are four ways to rev up errands and feel not only the household or business run smoothly, but also the mind/body/soul.
1. Check in before you head out. Take a moment to tune into your body and mind before dashing out to run errands. Adjust your list accordingly. Feeling pressured? Re-order the list to optimal efficiency, removing unnecessary stops. Feeling great? Consider next week’s list and integrate a few new tasks, e.g. pick up stamps while mailing a package.
2. Avoid distractions. Radios, iPods, and cell phones can be turned off, allowing clearer listening power to our intuitive awareness, which increases fortunate serendipity.
3. Value the extra. Plan to park in a far away parking spot, or take the stairs instead of the escalator. Breath deeper when walking. I like to repeat mentally an idea from the 21st Century version of Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health, “Our intuitive perception discerns essential facts.” The exercise, breathing, and mantra transform the routine or running errands into inspiring and releasing meditation.
4. Smile at the people passing by you.
