Say Yes!
by Krysta Gibson
Are you a yes person or a no person? No people are those who - no matter what is presented to them - see the negative. They can always tell you why something won’t work.
Yes people are those who always see the good. They see what will work. Yes people are those who greet each day with a sense of expectation instead of dread.
Yes people are fun to be with, even when life is challenging because they know how to put a positive spin on everything. I don’t mean these people make you feel like you are eating something way too sweet. They just feel positive about life and they exude this feeling.
I believe in this so much that I have the word Yes! in the middle of my business card. This reminds me to say yes and it makes people think yes when they see my business card.
You can become a yes person by deliberately looking for the positive in every situation. Train yourself to focus on what is working in your life instead of stewing about what isn’t working.
Let the word yes run in the background of your mind along with the word love. Your mind might sound something like this: yes-love-yes-love-yes-love… It plays very quietly in the background of your mind. Before long, you will find yourself being more positive, feeling happier, and having more joyful days.
On one of her audio programs Marianne Williamson addresses the Pollyanna issue. Instead of apologizing for being a Pollyanna, she asks, “What’s wrong with that? Is being a Pollyanna such a bad thing? I don’t mind being one at all.” Go ahead and let your inner Pollyanna come out. See the blue skies and not just the clouds. Expect the best rather than the worst. Assume people are good instead of thinking they are out to get you. Imagine a world filled with Pollyannas. I sorta like that picture. What about you?
